General Information

National Taiwan Normal University (NTNU) is a vibrant learning community that has long been recognized as one of Taiwan’s elite institutions of higher education. Founded in 1946, NTNU was formerly an institute dedicated to teacher education, as suggested by the name “Normal”, that later evolved into a comprehensive university. Established on the credo that education is the root of our nation, NTNU has been committed to the pursuit of academic excellence, characterized by the many influential educators and researchers it has nurtured over the years. 

Bearing the hallmarks of tradition and innovation, NTNU has expanded to 3 campuses, offering a wide spectrum of courses and degrees under its 9 colleges, including the arts and humanities, education, sociology, business management, athletics, to the sciences. NTNU’s strong dedication in cultivating bright minds and transmitting knowledge with the highest level of standards, along with its main campus’s location in the cultural hub of Taipei City, attracts thousands of talented students and devoted scholars from home and abroad every year. Department of Educational Psychology and Counseling 

In 1946, the University had approved the request to establish an Experimental Psychology Laboratory in the Department of Education. In August 1968, the Department of Educational Psychology was established. Now, the department offers Master and Doctoral programs under the permission of Ministry of Education. Since 1987, the Department of Educational Psychology was renamed and known as The Department of Educational Psychology & Counseling. The curriculum provides theoretical and practical training that involve practicum opportunities with and high-quality field supervision. We aim to provide our students with a solid foundation of professional for the knowledge and multi-level competence needed for pursuing career prospects in diverse fields. The department endeavors to cultivate students who (1) have the qualities of compassion, perseverance, enthusiasm, willing spirit, and sincerity, (2)possess knowledge for effective teaching and competence in professional helping skills, (3)are capable of divergent thinking and (4)hold an interdisciplinary and global perspective.
